We all know the troubles with the implementation of the Spanish architect's new roof and such, but what other improvements are actually going ahead? Lights? Scoreboard? Field? Seats?

As far as I know, all is going as planned. The parts of the roof are being constructed in France (or Italy, I'm not sure) and they should arrive in Greece by the summer. The roof will then be assembled over the next months.
As for all the others that you mention (lights, scoreboard, field, seats), they will be replaced with new ones. For example, the stadium now has no seats, as all the old ones have been taken away. There are no worries for all these - up until now at least. All the relevant works are scheduled to be carried out in the following months. The lights of course will have to wait for the new roof to be installed.

Thanks guys *blush*
As for the pictures - that was a initially a hobby. It has developed into what you all see on the website. It may be time (and sometimes money) consuming, but with comments like yours - it is worth the effort!

I found this picture that looks like a computer generated model of what the Olympic Stadium will look like after it's finished refurbishment. Sorry about the size though, it was the largest it could be. Enjoy!

Calatrava's Athens stadium begins race against timeSpanish architect dispels fears of Olympics committee over strength of roofs - and faces 500-day deadline April 28, 2003 4:24am The Spanish architect-engineer Santiago Calatrava's refurbishment of the Athens Olympics Stadium has been given the all-clear after an assessment by the International Olympics Committee. Construction must be completed by the start of the games next year - a period of fewer than 500 days. International concern has been expressed that Greece will not have the facilities ready in time Advertisement: Explore Within This Space The scheme is one of 235 projects, ranging from state-of-the-art stadiums to the New Acropolis Museum, designed by Bernard Tschumi, a Swiss architect with an international reputation. Two underground lines will also be constructed But Calatrava's project will be the most spectacular of them all It will involve erecting two enormous steel arches, each with 304 m span, over the open-air stadium that held the 1896 Olympics. A sunscreen roof in laminated glass will be suspended from them, supported from steel cables The roof project was nearly dropped this year when the Olympics committee became increasingly concerned that the project would be half-completed by the time the games opened A technical report commissioned by a Greek opposition party also claimed that, in an area prone to earthquakes, the slender arches would suffer from "significant overstress" Calatrava was able to guarantee the safety of the project at an inspection by the Olympics committee this month The architect said: "The new roofs will be supported at four points so that we can prepare the structures with few interventions." Jacques Rogge, president of the Olympic committee, inspected the work in progress on the construction programme this month. He expressed cautious optimism that the sports facilities would be ready. However he added: "In the first 18 months, frankly speaking, it was too disorganised." First of all, may I ask that you refrain from posting extremely large image files. They take a lot of time to download and they make people scroll horizontally to see the whole page. You posted each picture 6 times; I think it was unnecessary. This is why I edited your post. Second, these pictures are from www.ethnos.gr. I don't know their exact status, but they ARE protected by copyright. Therefore, they cannot be featured on the Stadia.gr website. The only reason I leave them here on the forum is this: "... Stadia.gr is not responsible for the content of messages, as they express only the views of their authors..."[/i] (from the forum's rules).
