I get very exited seeing the plans for this stadium. Imagine the way it will look when it's finished. For big games, like CL, UEFA etc, it would be great to see our teams playing in such a stadium. ;D

Update on the works at the Olympic Stadium: The pieces of the roof's arcs are now being assembled with the help of the temporary metal "towers". A first part is already fitted together and now hangs over the stadium. The photo below was shot today.

btw.... I too would like to say thanks for this site! It is just awsome. A great page representing Greece, and it's stadiums/arenas. Please keep up the good work, and know it doesn't go unnoticed! I hope to see it around for many years to come. Thank you.

It's 4th January today so they've got 221 days left before the opening ceremony on 13th August. That should be just about enough but it's a close call!! Are they working on it 24/7??

Well, they don`t work as hard as they should be but they `ll be finished until the 24 of July... ...unless they `re moving to Mars on the 25th !

What Monkey means by "24/7", is not the 24th of July, but if they are working 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week.
The answer, according to officials, is "yes". There are three 8-hour shifts working every day. I said "according to officials", because one does not get that impression after visiting the site. However, they seem to be pretty confident they are on schedule, although they confess this is very tight. What can I say? It sure is a very close call - we're all keeping our fingers crossed and hope they make it!
